Penelope Isles is the charismatic, dream-pop infused sounds of Isle of Man - via - Brighton based siblings, Jack and Lily Wolter. A collaboration between two songwriters and a collection of songs, thoughts and ideas created with the love and labor of making music. The four-piece band includes Becky Redford and Jack Sowton whose personalities and performances breathe life into Penelope Isles.
The band has recently announced their signing with indie label Bella Union, founded by ex Cocteau Twin Simon Raymonde. “Love at first sight is the best way to describe my feelings for Penelope Isles,” said Simon. “Great songs, powerful and then delicate, heavy and yet tender, and like all the significant bands I’ve loved, with their own personality indelibly stamped across every verse.”
Penelope Isles’ debut LP ‘Until the Tide Creeps In’ is due for release in 2019. Between its shining noise waves and lustrous melodies, the album is a transporting display of an expansive DIY vision. An exciting new record that is undoubtedly fresh, inviting and immersive, its elemental metaphors provide a fertile backdrop for the band’s innate chemistry and acute grasp of contrast.
Penelope Isles’ highly acclaimed live performance has blown many away throughout both the UK and European circuits. The band has already gained support from The Line of Best Fit, Sterogum and DIY MAG for their excellent live shows. Having previously shared the stage with the likes of British Sea Power, Lost Horizons, The Magic Numbers and BC Camplight, Penelope Isles will make their American debut in March at The New Colossus festival in New York City, later taking to the BBC 6 Music showcase at SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas.
