Phoria Release New Single 'Slope' - Out Today!

Critically-acclaimed alternative outfit Phoria continue building towards their third studio album (River Oblivion, releasing April 14th) with a stunning new single, ‘Slope’. Lead writer/composer Trewin Howard brings his haunting vocal delivery back into focus, with Phoria’s signature authenticity, sophistication and emotional depth wrapped into a gorgeous track. Effortlessly blending the intricate with the expansive, ‘Slope’ is another sonic statement to reinforce the band’s position as one of the most creative and original acts in the UK.

The track focuses around a delicate, haunting underscore with the stunning, close vocal. The climax section towards the end brings a beautiful synth and strings build, along with epic, rolling drums. This adds to the modern, driving neo-classical world Phoria are so well known for.

On the track, Trewin Howard says,

“‘Slope’ was a revival of sorts. It was the first step of a fresh impulse after almost losing my thread as a musician. The reality of what is happening around us is hard to bear at times and it takes courage to face it unabridged. All my inspiration came from the miraculous people that do.”

Howard is already looking to what’s next. A landmark gig will take place at London’s iconic, beautiful Union Chapel on April 27, where tickets are already flying for the band’s biggest headline to date. While the follow-up to ‘River Oblivion’ is already in progress, he hopes Phoria’s third album will “serve as a launchpad into a new pace”. “We’re going to keep the ethos of ‘River Oblivion’ – to literally just go for it – going,” he says happily, ready to take the renewed Phoria to new, even bigger heights.
